Thanks for everyone's comments, obviously given the new it is truly time to start looking. I am anxious to see where we go from here.

With the early force out of Phil I am torn as to whether we will hear sooner or later who is going to replace our head coach. On one side we might need to get someone like Kiffin who is available now and that would make the early force out make more sense. But, on the other hand maybe the early force was truly due to the fact Mike Hamilton wants the fans to have time to say goodbye and honor coach Fulmer.

It is yet to be seen. But I cant wait to see what happens. Thanks for reading everyone.

Kiffin is the best choice out there RECRUITING RECRUITING RECRUITING he does it really well and would bring a whole staff of great recruiters like Ed Orgeron

Excellent run down on some coaching options to replace Phil. I agree totally that a coach needs to bring discipline and emotion to the team and lead them in the right direction.
While I agree Phil needs to be replaced, I do feel for Phil and his family. It would be more preferable if Phil would realize his time has past and he would step down so someone else could take the helm.
Let's hope that Mike Hamilton realizes the need to change and goes to Phil and allows him to step down gracefully so the discipline, leadership and pride can return to UT football.
Keep up the good work.

Well thought out on both the do's and don't. It's time whether we beat alabama or not.

Interesting list of five. Will Muschamp is at the stage now that Bob Stoops was before he went from Florida to Oklahoma. He'd be my first pick, and with his Georgia and Auburn pedigree, I think he'd be happy to come to Knoxville unless Auburn fires Tuberville. Hope Mike Hamilton doesn't let him get away, but he's definitely looking for a major football program, and he's ready! Go Vols! TennPhilBilly

Agree with your coaching choices except for Whittingham. The big negative for him is that he has never recruited at a big time level in the geographic areas we need to be successful. We absolutely have to be able to pull players from Fla, southeast states, Texas, California, and now the Atlantic coast is really opening up for us with the coaches from Richmond.

As for Gruden, he appears to be a decent coach, but is he willing to put in the time recruiting? Also, I thought I had read the opposite of your statement, that he had no interest in the UT job and doesn't know why his name keeps appearing.
